The first one puts out a lot of lumens which are well dispersed throughout the room (unlike, say a small light bulb that is more a single bright source that fades off towards the farther corners). Works very well in an off-grid situation where 12 volt power is available or required. In our case, we have the bulb mounted in a “clamp lamp” with a reflector in our generator house. The overhead lamp + bulb allows us to see well when firing up the generator, changing the oil and oil filter, or doing battery maintenance, especially in winter months when the ambient light is low or nonexistent.
