There is no way this fits a 4″ post! The description clearly said this would fit a variety of post sizes, including 4″, which is what we have. The base of the unit is 5″, so would fit that exactly with no adaptors. There was a 4 1/2″ adaptor, and a smaller adaptor for a 3 1/2″ post. I looked in the installation manual and it again said a 4″ adaptor, so I looked at the other one in the set and it had the same adaptors – none for a 4″ post.
