Lights up every time I have these lights on my deck steps. They receive morning sun for about 5 hours a day. The light from them is bright and not only light up the steps, but the concrete pad at the bottom of the steps is fully illuminated.They have also proved durable. Decent for accent light. Definitely not a flood light. After using several other outside lights with night detection and motion sensor that use D-Cell batteries, I had high hopes for this solar light where I would not need to replace batteries again.
