Exactly what I wanted I’m posting a review because it was unclear when I bought it if it work for a semi-enclosed light, and it did. For anyone who wants to buy this for an outside light that has an enclosure around it and is worried if the motion sensor would work, you need to have the light bulb pointing down since the sensor is on the tip, the lamp cannot be completely enclosed, and the lamp cannot be positioned too far away from the door. ACTUAL DETECTION RANGE IS ONLY 5 FEET (1.5 METERS) The details provided by the seller (and on the packaging, for that matter) is INCORRECT! I purchased this product (and others like it) for use in my garage with the hopes that the light would turn on when we open the door from the house to the garage, which is exactly 12 FEET (3.6 METERS) from the light and THE SENSOR DOES-NOT DETECT ANY MOTION UNTIL IT OCCURS WITHIN 5 FEET (1.5 METERS).
