An almost perfect retrofit, just be careful which dimmer you pair it with. I just installed 8 of these into new Sunco 4″ retrofit cans in my bedroom. The cans went in relatively easy, and for the most part the bulbs/light engines are great. The trim is nice durable metal with a smooth, clean paint finish, and the spring clips are sufficient to very firmly hold the trim in the can (if it wants to droop a little bit, push it up and turn it maybe 15 degrees in either direction, it should ‘bite” and hold tight to the ceiling then). Excellent quality, great light color, works well with dimmer, very bright I recently renovated my kitchen and installed recessed lighting.
