When you first plug in to charge it, it lights up red and then green when fully charged. Then unplug the charger USB cord and you have this very smartly designed light about a foot long. The on/off button is on the end opposite from the charging end. Turn it on. The light is beautifully bright. To dim the light, push the button again, and again for flashing light.
