Don’t use this anywhere it can get wet. Updated 7/13/17I bought this primarily for my pontoon trailer and I lost the lights on a rear corner this week. I had put the wire in sheathing and the runs are inside of a fully enclosed frame. At the ends I made the connection to the lights with marine rated epoxy heat shrink crimp connectors. That was then wrapped with 3M mastic electrical tape and all of it tucked back into sheathing to make it all look nice. In other words, a quality connection.Opening it up all was…
A very good value. I could not tell that the wire … A very good value. I could not tell that the wire (strands) are actually aluminum, copper coated. I did not try to scrape the copper off to verify. I did use a contact paste/grease when doing crimps. All connections were crimped and heat shrink tubing used. Aluminum wiring can be a problem because of it’s “expansion” characteristics if not done properly. But for a boat trailer it should be fine. I would not use it in a RV , boat etc because of potential of connections getting loose…
