‘Plastic with a give’ might be the ideal design for us I will update if flimsy plastic doesn’t hold up… I’m planning on using some glue…But, for the price for four and the amount of light they shed… I’m pleased. Somehow every metal post cap has something plastic that will break…these aren’t rigid…so I hope they can handle a couple bumps without cracking… we’ll see…I took a picture just after sundown…and then in pitch dark with a bit of help from smartphone…they are just enough light for me to walk out with the dog in the dark…or…
These things are pretty cheapy-cheapy, but really they look pretty nice. I like that the bottoms are detachable, and can be installed either on raised post caps or flat rails. I have mine on post caps; they are just a smidge big for my posts stay on well anyway. I had them just sitting loose for a couple weeks while the wood finished drying out and I stained everything before screwing them on. I ordered 10 for my new deck. I really like these lights. I was a little skeptical about the solar because part of the fence gets full sunshine the other part gets partial. So, I thought I would have some lights that lip and others did not. However, that’s not a problem at all. The sunshine they receive is more than adequate to keep them so they all light and rather brightly I would say all night long.
