Along the way we were presented with compact fluorescent light bulbs (aka CFL’s) and any child in school could have told you they were a terrible idea. First, they don’t work very well with dimming switches. Secondly, they blink just as badly as the large fluorescent tubes your child deals with every day in school. Third, unlike the large tubes, the early CFL’s had a terrible, ugly yellow light. By the…
Replacing the energy efficient, but older compact fluorescent lights (CFL) with LED lights has always made me thankful for the many improvements in LEDs, starting with the instant-on, full-brightness that CFL’s didn’t have, and the slight edge in energy efficiency. In most lighting situations we’ve found 40 watt equivalents to not be quite bright enough, but these 60 watt equivalents (I still haven’t quite gotten used to the Lumens measurement) are plenty bright.
