Do not buy this In the beginning ,the blackout buddy created light and all was good.Then one day I came through the den and smelled an odor of something burning like an electrical fire. I followed the smell to the blackout buddy and the light had activated but my receptacle was fine and working .The back of the light had a spot on it that had melted about the size of a quarter. Works, very bright at first but a year and a half later it is very dim, .3 to .4 watts This light works as described. It turns off when the lights are on, and turns on when it is dark, unplugged or the power is out. There is also and off switch.It only takes up one outlet.It is bright enough to light up my entire kitchen, and dimly light the hall and my living room. I can walk down the hall, make a sandwich, find the tv remote and go back to bed with just this light. It is probably too bright for bedroom use *at first*.*Year and a half later…
