Even though I rated 4 stars its still worth a great buy. Strange, I ordered different colors of this COB. Red one had its heat sink back connected to positive terminal. Royal blue was isolated… Well tried to drive all the way to 3 W and the chip flashed and burnt out even though it was reflowed onto a 1/8″ thick copper slug (1″x .875″) then the slug was screwed into an aluminum block with thermal grease between the copper and aluminum. chip didn’t even feel warm when it flashed and died. Plenty to chose from I was impressed that the parts were shipped in a sealed anti-static bag. Most of the parts I’ve bought from various sellers, except Jameco, usually come in a plain plastic bag which doesn’t really inspire confidence in their reliability. I haven’t had a problem (yet) but the parts are cheap enough.
