Worthwhile upgrade I ordered 3 of these LEDs to replace bulbs in old lanterns I already own – a cheap Dorcy equivalent and a more expensive Dolphin. With a fresh battery, they work at least as well as the incandescent bulbs, and I expect the light output to remain more constant as the battery ages – the light output from old batteries with incandescent bulbs drops off very quickly.With a fresh battery, incandescent bulb drew 800mA; same battery with these LEDs runs at 120mA. If using in a 3 cell flashlight, don’t bother This really shouldn’t be listed as a 4.5 to 6 volt bulb. It really doesn’t work well on 4.5 volts (or 3 cells). On 3 D battery flashlights, the output is marginal at best and no where near the rated output. If you put it on 6 volts, the output is significantly brighter (not great mind you, but honestly it is only rated at 40 lumens to begin with). So to achieve the rated 40 lumens, you have to have it in a 4 battery flashlight. Thus the item seems a bit misrepresented to me. For 3 cell…
