High quality construction, great warranty, BRIGHT I’m a light bulb lover. I own a lot of LED bulbs and can’t seem to stop buying them. I bought the 80 watt version of this bulb. I replaced an old metal halide bulb. The metal halide bulb uses the same E39 screw base. My old fixture has a ballast that needs to be bypassed. The Hyperikon bulb comes with instructions explaining the basics of this. If you are an entry level DIY’er that has some wiring experience you should be able to do this. It took me about 5 minutes. NOT as bright as 1000W Metal Halide. This bulb does not put out near as much light as a 1000-watt metal halide bulb. The quality, color, light temperature, everything else is top notch.Unlike the other Hyperikon products I have purchased that seemed to put out more light than the bulbs they replaced. This one did not. We tried a retrofit for our club tennis courts. We replaced all the bulbs in one standard and kept the metal halide bulbs in the others. There Hyperikon corner was visibly darker.
