Most Edison-base LED incandescent replacement bulbs, including globe-shaped ones like this, have an opaque white section at their bases to house power supply electronics. These don’t; the actual LEDs are very close to the screw base and the entire globe is illuminated by them, resulting in even light in all directions due to the envelope’s diffusion.
